What is ORCID and why does a scientist need it?
ORCID is a permanent digital international identifier of a researcher, which helps to collect all information about the career of scientists and their publications in a single profile or “digital biography”. By specifying the ORCID in the affiliation of the author of a scientific article, the problem of different spellings of the names of researchers and “lost" links is avoided. Therefore, it is not only important for authors to register their profiles in ORCID, but also to regularly update the relevant information posted in it about their place of work, stage of professional development, etc. The profile can be publicly available or limited to certain categories of users. As an example, you can get acquainted with the ORCID profile of the head of the Laboratory for Scientific Translation Natalia Gennadievna Popova
